Concerts

The Emperor Quartet has performed at music festivals such as the Festival of the Sound, the Elora Festival and the Westben Music Festival as well as concerts at the AGO, the ROM, the McMichael Gallery, the Varley Art Gallery and numerous community concerts.

The repertoire for our concerts is often focused on a historic theme and is combined with light-hearted commentary that brings the time period and its music to life. For instance, our concert at the Varley Art Gallery presented music and anecdotes from the time of the First World War to celebrate an exhibition of F. H. Varley's paintings as a war correspondent. At the ROM we presented a concert of the life and music of Queen Victoria to coincide with the touring exhibit from England's Victoria and Albert Museum.

Themes include:

  • The Life of Mozart
  • The Wonder of Bach
  • The Music of Victoria and Albert
  • The Joy of Handel
  • The Allure of Italy
  • The Music of Strauss and the end of the Hapsburg Empire
